Recipe for Chlorine Dioxide

There are a few links on this page to help you with purchasing correct ingredients for this recipe. They are NOT affiliate links. If you decide to find something else to buy, please be sure it is what is needed. Example: This recipe calls for sodium chlorite. There are people on Amazon selling sodium chloride for a very high price. Sodium chloride is table salt and will not work for this recipe. You need sodium chlorite. (Follow link below to get the correct ingredient.)

This recipe is in grams. You may need to get a scale if you don’t have one.

This is the scale I have

I use quart canning jars to mix this in. Any glass jar will do.

Do not use the metal lids though. They react with the HCL. I have plastic lids for my jars. If you don’t have plastic lids, you can use saran wrap and a rubber band.

MMS:

720 grams of distilled water

280 grams of sodium chlorite

Add both to the jar and shake lightly.

You will have to let it sit overnight to make sure it is dissolved, shaking occasionally.

This is the sodium chlorite I use.

HCL:

600 ml distilled water

100 ml hydrochloric acid.

Always pour the acid into the water, not the other way around.

Add both to a jar and mix gently.

Remember, no metal lid.

Hydrochloric acid is muriatic acid can be purchased in any hardware store near the paint.

1/2 gallon is around $10 and you will not use much at all. I don’t think you can buy smaller bottles at the hardware store. You can buy small bottles on Amazon but the price is outrageous and may be diluted.

The dropper bottles you use are important. The wrong plastic can dissolve with the HCL.

These are the bottles I use.

None of this needs to be refrigerated. It is okay, if you prefer but it is not necessary.

The individual components will last forever in sealed containers. The chemical reaction only starts once they are mixed together.

If you feel a need to test if your mixed ingredients are still good, add one drop of each to a glass container. If the mixed drops turn an amber color, your drops are fine.
